About: My first beer was Budweiser. I was about 9 or 10, Dad and I were broken down and the side of the road and all there was to drink was Budweiser. So I had a swig of his, hated it!
I didn't drink beer again until I joined the Marine Corps. I was in Quantico, attending Small Computer Systems Specialist school, when I accidentally knocked a beer out the fridge and broke it. My buddies said now I gotta drink one! The rest is history. The broken beer was a Red Dog by the way.
Now days I am really a hop head that enjoys the IPAs [Stone IPA; Lagunitas IPA] and Douple IPAs [Moylan's; Hair of the Dog Blue Dot]. I also like Belgians [St Bernardus; Delirium; Three Philosopher's] a lot! I also like the Stouts and Porters [Black Butte] as well.
I enjoy going to breweries to sample as well as going to pubs and taverns. I also like enjoying beer with friends and bouncing ideas off of other intelligent people as well. Last time I was at O'Brien's I was shooting the shit with a couple of random strangers.
I hope to someday do a pub/tavern crawl across Europe. That's all I want. Simple.

Name: Hitachino Nest Beer XH
Brewery: Kiuchi Brewery Japan
Overall Rating: B+
Style: Belgian
ABV: 8%
IBU: 40
Appearance: Golden Amber.
Aroma: Words were hard to describe the aroma of this one. The influence from the sake barrels is very distinct and I would have to say it smelled like a light Sake, like the Coors Light of Sakes!
Flavor: Another category that is hard to put a distinct flavor on it. It was bitter and dry much like a Sake. Its has all the same ingredients as an craft beer but the taste was so different because it was aged in Sake barrels. This is where this one went down to a B+ for me. The taste was out of this world but not a beer that I will go out of my way to get again.
Body: Medium yet BOLD!
Enjoyability: Again this is hard for me to sit back and enjoy it. It was flavorful, no doubt, but eat sip made you really aware that this is not a beer you have had before! But if you want to serve something off the wall to some friends, the beer will become a conversation piece. I also believe that the owl on the bottle becomes animated after a few of these Sake-infused-flavor-bombs in a bottle.

[...] Its tough to describe the aromas on this. Similar to my last Hitachino review these aromas are just different than other brews. Not sure if they use the Sake casks on this one [...]
