About: I remember my first beer...actually, I don't. It was probably something horrible like a Coors light and I'm glad I've forgotten. My experience with beer has come full circle. Originally I gave up on beer because I thought it was all crappy lagers. One day in 2002, I happened upon a little deli called Hollingshead in Anaheim, CA that just happened to have a vast array of "crazy" beers on tap I had never heard of. I dug the look of the STONE IPA handle and tried it. My life has never been the same since. I was in love with hops, grains, and the amazing beauty of what beer can really be.
I love bold flavors and extremes. Belgiums and homebrewing my own beer.See Authors Posts (76) | Filed under: Homebrew

Name of Brew: Sigaro IPA Batch #2
Brewed By: Sigaro Brewing Co.
Overall rating: A-
Style: IPA
ABV: 6
IBU: 60
Appearance: Reddish brown, slightly cloudy. Pours with a 2-finger head.
Aroma: Smells like beer. Hints of pine and spices.
Flavor: Great IPA taste. Not too hoppy, not too malty. Balanced.
Body: Medium Full body. This is a great winter brew when it dips below 10 degrees *(or 65 in SoCal).
Drinkability: Heck yeah. This sucker has more drinkability than some of the other non-ale brews I’ve cooked up. I’m probably half way done with the keg already and it’s only been on tap for a week. Special note, drinkability is actually listed as mispelled. When I try to fix it, it comes back with “undrinkability”. Firefox’s attempt to mock budlight perhaps?

I really regret not bringing a few bottles of this mighty fine home brew out here. I’m hoping to figure out an easy, safe way for us to ship brews back and forth for sampling.

A buddy gave me a Mr. Beer kit…its a few years old, he had it in his garage. It should still work right?

Mr. Beer kits CAN make good beer. Theres even brewshops that sell better ingredients than the stock stuff for these. Better than NO beer. Plus some people use these things for small batch beer even after they get the whole bucket setup going.
