Name: Scaldis

Brewery: Dubuisson

Overall Rating: A

Style: Belgian Quadrupel Ale

Serving Style: 8.48oz Bottle

ABV: 12%

Price: $3.99

Appearance: A hazy medium bronze tone emanates in the glass, covered with an active but not overbearing head with full but fleeting lacing.

Aroma: Full of ripe fruit and some hints of Belgian yeast, sweet malts, and perhaps toffee and a spicy alcoholic nose.

Flavor: Starts off smooth with some malts giving their sweetness, then builds into a full balanced flavor of fruit and spice, almost a cinnamon and toffee touch is noted with stealthy hops only serving to balance these qualities with mild bitterness. The finish is warm and soothing from the alcohol and remarkably smooth for such a strong ale.

Body: The carbonation is second to none in this beverage in regards to mouthfeel as it quickly coats your entire palate then dissipates as you savor. A full rich drink with a surprising smooth finish for such high abv.

Enjoyability: I am highly impressed by its complex flavors and smooth, balanced characteristics, especially for a Quadrupel. This beer is very drinkable for anyone who appreciates a higher abv brew.  And while its up there at 12%, the full Belgian craftsmanship and quality shines through all the way from start to finish.

Note: this bottle is microscopic so make sure you pick up a few extras for yourself.
