About: My first beer was Budweiser. I was about 9 or 10, Dad and I were broken down and the side of the road and all there was to drink was Budweiser. So I had a swig of his, hated it!
I didn't drink beer again until I joined the Marine Corps. I was in Quantico, attending Small Computer Systems Specialist school, when I accidentally knocked a beer out the fridge and broke it. My buddies said now I gotta drink one! The rest is history. The broken beer was a Red Dog by the way.
Now days I am really a hop head that enjoys the IPAs [Stone IPA; Lagunitas IPA] and Douple IPAs [Moylan's; Hair of the Dog Blue Dot]. I also like Belgians [St Bernardus; Delirium; Three Philosopher's] a lot! I also like the Stouts and Porters [Black Butte] as well.
I enjoy going to breweries to sample as well as going to pubs and taverns. I also like enjoying beer with friends and bouncing ideas off of other intelligent people as well. Last time I was at O'Brien's I was shooting the shit with a couple of random strangers.
I hope to someday do a pub/tavern crawl across Europe. That's all I want. Simple.

Name: Electrostatic Ale
Brewery: Lightning Brewery
Overall Rating: A+
Style: Imperial-style Farmhouse Ale
Serving Style: Bottle
ABV: 10%
IBU: N/A
Appearance: Light and cloudy pale.
Aroma: Sweet. i can smell the Belgian style in this even though the bottle says its a “Imperial-style Farmhouse Ale”
Flavor: Very much belgian style. If this is not a belgian, I don’t know what is. I must be a nub then! But this is a Belgian style.
Body: Medium. You wouldn’t think its a 10% ABV. Its very subtle and very tasty.
Enjoyability: I am adding this to my list of “I must buy one of these while I am here”. If you like Belgian style ales, I HIGHLY recommend this to you! I could drink ten of these in a row and not be tired of it. It surprised me after my last Lightning review.
Long live San Diego, the mecca for fine beer!
Another Take: BA’s review with an A- overall

Yes, well I think you just don’t *get* all of our beers. Not to rant, but maybe that BLP bottle was older than optimal.

James, these are some of my early reviews and i was still learning about all the different types of beers out there.
There was something wrong with the Black Lighting Porter I had. Still to this day it did not taste like any other Baltic Porters I have had. Saltiness was a weird flavor to pick up on and it stuck with me.
I’ll pick up another one soon and do an updated review. I know beer is different from batch to batch.
Cheers,
