About: I remember my first beer...actually, I don't. It was probably something horrible like a Coors light and I'm glad I've forgotten. My experience with beer has come full circle. Originally I gave up on beer because I thought it was all crappy lagers. One day in 2002, I happened upon a little deli called Hollingshead in Anaheim, CA that just happened to have a vast array of "crazy" beers on tap I had never heard of. I dug the look of the STONE IPA handle and tried it. My life has never been the same since. I was in love with hops, grains, and the amazing beauty of what beer can really be.
I love bold flavors and extremes. Belgiums and homebrewing my own beer.See Authors Posts (76) | Filed under: Beer Reviews

Name: B.O.R.I.S. (Bodacious Oatmeal Russian Imperial Stout) The Crusher
Brewery: Hoppin’ Frog
Overall Rating: B+
Style: Oatmeal-Imperial Stout
Serving Style: 22oz Bottle
ABV: 9.40%
IBU: 60
Price: $7.49
Appearance: 10W-40. Pure Black. Held this sucker up to a 100w bulb and it was like an eclipse.
Aroma: Smokey and sweet peat. Malt character is present too.
Flavor: Bitter sweet. Dark chocolate is the prevalent tone. Charcoal Kingford is the after taste. Hints of espresso are a special treat.
Body: Pretty flat, light carbonation. Chewy.
Enjoyability: I enjoyed this stout. It’s thick, chewy, and bold. Absolutely a sipper. I’m not sure it’s quite balanced enough to earn the “A” rating. The dark chocolate dominated the flavor for me. Still, if you ever see this beauty on the shelf, pick it up and take it home.
