About: I remember my first beer...actually, I don't. It was probably something horrible like a Coors light and I'm glad I've forgotten. My experience with beer has come full circle. Originally I gave up on beer because I thought it was all crappy lagers. One day in 2002, I happened upon a little deli called Hollingshead in Anaheim, CA that just happened to have a vast array of "crazy" beers on tap I had never heard of. I dug the look of the STONE IPA handle and tried it. My life has never been the same since. I was in love with hops, grains, and the amazing beauty of what beer can really be.
I love bold flavors and extremes. Belgiums and homebrewing my own beer.See Authors Posts (76) | Filed under: Beer Reviews

Midas Touch Golden Elixir
Name: Midas Touch Golden Elixir
Brewery: Dogfish Head
Overall Rating: A
Style: Ancient Ale
Serving Style: 12oz Bottle
ABV: 9.0%
IBU: 20
Price: $14.99 for four 12oz Bottles
Appearance: Brilliantly clear, honey colored. Surprisingly nice 2-finger head.
Aroma: Honey dominates the nose with the floral saffron mingling with the aromas. Meady tones are present most likely from the honey aroma.
Flavor: Honey nectar. Figgy and sweet, but not overpowering sweetness.
Body: Almost like a wine or sherry. It’s closer to a desert wine, sherry, or even a single malt scotch than a beer. Definitely a sipper. Medium and full of carbonation.
Enjoyability: I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this ancient brew. I thought the maltiness and honey would over power this beer, but it’s actually well balanced and completely drinkable with ease. I can understand why it’s the brew of a king, it’s truly a fine brew that is worth any beer connoisseurs tasting.

Beyond the apparent mis-spelling of closer, instead spelled as ‘closure’, which actually reads like you’ve had one Midas (or 3) too many, I couldn’t agree with you more. A wonderful, almost barely-wine brew that should certainly be sipped and enjoyed.

I actually drank all four for thoroughness before writing the review so I’d be surprised if that was the only spelling/grammar error! Cheers, thanks for the comment.
