About: I remember my first beer...actually, I don't. It was probably something horrible like a Coors light and I'm glad I've forgotten. My experience with beer has come full circle. Originally I gave up on beer because I thought it was all crappy lagers. One day in 2002, I happened upon a little deli called Hollingshead in Anaheim, CA that just happened to have a vast array of "crazy" beers on tap I had never heard of. I dug the look of the STONE IPA handle and tried it. My life has never been the same since. I was in love with hops, grains, and the amazing beauty of what beer can really be.
I love bold flavors and extremes. Belgiums and homebrewing my own beer.See Authors Posts (76) | Filed under: News

Schlitz. It sure does not sound appetizing to me but free beer is free beer. And the good people at JOS. Schlitz Brewing Co. (You may know them as Pabst) have decided to ship over their Schlitz for the troops in Iraq to enjoy during the SuperBowl. Earlier this month, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, Gen. Raymond Odierno, issued a waiver allowing military to drink beer on Feb. 1. Drinking will be limited to dining areas and commanders were ordered to keep a lid on the partying. Shouldn’t be too hard to keep the partying down; soldiers will only be allowed two beers. At 4.6% ABV, it will be a challenge for our brave men and woman in uniform to do anything that would warrant a court marshal. Still, since alcohol is forbidden by the Quran and generally not allowed in Iraq, this is a rare treat for the troops. This Schiltz is for you!
