St Bernardus Abt 12

Name: Abt 12

Brewery: St Bernardus

Overall Rating: A-

Style: Belgian Abbey Ale

Serving Style: Bottle, 1pt. 9.4fl. oz.

ABV: 10%

Price: $5.99

Appearance: Dark, cloudy brown. Off white 2 finger head [The picture above from a follow up pour]

Aroma: Its not revealing itself to me through the smell of it. Smelling mostly malts.

Flavor: This is where this Belgian really shines. Exactly where I want it to shine as well. Getting earthy tones, yeasty, malty, carmally. Does a decent job of hiding the ABV but you do taste the alcohol in the after taste.

Body: Excellent body with a good amount of carbonation. Lingering taste that makes you look back at the glass to see if there is more in there.

Enjoyability: If I am looking for a heavy Belgian to enjoy on a cool winter night [not really getting the cool part here in So-Cal] then I may pick this one up again.

So far I am impressed with what St Bernardus brings to the table. Excellent tasting Belgian style Abbey Ale’s that all have their unique flavors and twists.
