Name: Levitation Ale
Brewery: Stone
Overall Rating: B-
Style: Red Ale
Serving Style: 12 oz Bottle
ABV: 4.4%
Price: $2.99
Appearance: Solid red amber with a moderate head. Great persistent lacing throughout. Clear as day.
Aroma: A powerful hop blast. I know what you’re thinking, it’s Stone so it’s gotta be hoppy. But as you read the rest of my review, this is actually a tame beer for Stone’s standards. That said, the hop aroma on this beer is bigger and bolder than Arrogant, IPA, or even the Ruination. Like sniffing a pack of homebrew hops.
Flavor: Mild maltiness that is followed by a hop kicker. A bitter aftertaste finishes things off.
Body: Well carbonated and very nice light mouthfeel. Overall, medium bodied.
Enjoyability: Not my favorite Stone brew. It’s actually probably on the opposite end of that spectrum. Still, Stone’s quality and attention to detail are present and make this one of the better red ales I’ve had. The real noteworthy part of this brew is the aroma of hops for me. The rest actually tastes like a “Stone Light”.
