About: I remember my first beer...actually, I don't. It was probably something horrible like a Coors light and I'm glad I've forgotten. My experience with beer has come full circle. Originally I gave up on beer because I thought it was all crappy lagers. One day in 2002, I happened upon a little deli called Hollingshead in Anaheim, CA that just happened to have a vast array of "crazy" beers on tap I had never heard of. I dug the look of the STONE IPA handle and tried it. My life has never been the same since. I was in love with hops, grains, and the amazing beauty of what beer can really be.
I love bold flavors and extremes. Belgiums and homebrewing my own beer.See Authors Posts (76) | Filed under: Enhance Your Knowledge

Q: If you had to choose one country, which one do you think brews the best beer?
A: It really is impossible to say. The Germans have the best malt character. The British brew with admirable subtlety and gracefulness. The Belgians are masters of complexity. Americans express hops better than anyone. The Italians incorporate their local food traditions. Fortunately we don’t have to choose just one country. That’s what makes the U.S. the most exciting place in the world to drink beer.
