Capital Brewery – Wisconsin Amber
Name: Wisconsin Amber
Brewery: Capital Brewery
Overall Rating: C-
Style: Vienna Style Amber Ale
Serving Style: 12oz Bottle
ABV: N/A (5% or less is my guess)
IBU:N/A
Price: $3.25
Aroma: sweet, roasty, and very caramelly.
Appearance: Surprising light for an Amber Ale.
Flavor: Strong malty flavors despite the fact the brewery lists it as a balanced ale, its missing more hops to drive the drinkability. Sweet carmel flavors coat your tongue.
Mouthfeel: Carbonation was rather weak and left my mouth overly sticky with malt flavors.
Enjoyability: This definitely is not a beer that I would try again. I found it overly malty for amber ale. Surprisingly this brew has one numerous awards. You may want to try it for yourself and make your own judgements.

Vienna lager is quickly becoming one of my favorite styles. It’s the “IPA” on the opposite side of the spectrum of beers; MALT. Take a look at the BJCP style guide for more info on this sucker. Ironically, this very beer is listed as a good commercial example of the style! http://www.bjcp.org/2008styles/style03.php
I say try one more with the style guide handy and see if it’s at least brewed to the correct style.
Prost!

Wonder if they use a lager yeast on these.

It’s a lager, so yes.
Probably a Marzen or Oktoberfest strain.
