UPDATE: Gile’s Nut Brown Ale

About: My first beer was Budweiser. I was about 9 or 10, Dad and I were broken down and the side of the road and all there was to drink was Budweiser. So I had a swig of his, hated it!
I didn't drink beer again until I joined the Marine Corps. I was in Quantico, attending Small Computer Systems Specialist school, when I accidentally knocked a beer out the fridge and broke it. My buddies said now I gotta drink one! The rest is history. The broken beer was a Red Dog by the way.
Now days I am really a hop head that enjoys the IPAs [Stone IPA; Lagunitas IPA] and Douple IPAs [Moylan's; Hair of the Dog Blue Dot]. I also like Belgians [St Bernardus; Delirium; Three Philosopher's] a lot! I also like the Stouts and Porters [Black Butte] as well.
I enjoy going to breweries to sample as well as going to pubs and taverns. I also like enjoying beer with friends and bouncing ideas off of other intelligent people as well. Last time I was at O'Brien's I was shooting the shit with a couple of random strangers.
I hope to someday do a pub/tavern crawl across Europe. That's all I want. Simple.

Name: English Nut Brown
Brewery: Core Member: Gile
Overall Rating: AHA Score: 24/50; C+
Style: English Style Brown Ale [AHA Category11; Subcategory A]
Serving Style: Bottle, 220z
ABV: 4.5%
Aroma: Esters, malts and hazel nuts.
Appearance: Cloudy brown with a thin white head that quickly dissipated.
Flavor: Malty, astringent with a hazelnut aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, light on the tongue and chewy.
Enjoyability: Lets be honest here. This was my FIRST batch and I did do some things that were not correct. Like boiling the grains for a full 60 minutes. Other than the astringent taste, this is a good tasting brew. It came with my home brew kit so it was my practice run. As far as keeping with the style of an English Brown Ale, I’d have to say it most resembles the Mild variant.
Another take: None yet!
Update: I am currently dumping all of these down the drain! Improper sanitization and cleaning along with boiling grains have ruined this beer.

Congratulations on the first batch. It only gets better from here as you work towards brewing the perfect pint. One day, we’ll achieve perfection. Enjoy the brew and start dreaming of the next batch!

Man O Man….a sad day when you gotta dump it. Sadly I’ve dumped a few myself. You gave it long enough to know at least…some people dump day one. If it’s pure crap and getting worse after a few months, it’s time to cut the losses and free up more bottles for another batch!
