Issaquah BrewHouse (Rogue Brewery)

Author: Sudz | Filed under: Brewpub Review

The Location

If you happen to be visiting the beautiful but rainy state of Washington, put this stop on your list! Nestled in the historic district of Issaquah Washington the Issaquah Brew House is a purveyor of fine ales and tasty food. The Issaquah BrewHouse is known for their “Frog Brews” which we’ll get into a bit later.

The atmosphere:
Given the time of day (Sunday 4:30PM) – this brew pub pulled in a good buzz of guests.
The brew pub was surprisingly small in size, perhaps enough to fit roughly 150 people. Not quite the family atmosphere that I witness at Titletown but nonetheless, it’s Sunday so I’ll reserve final judgment for the end of the week.

The Brews
In part 2 of this review, I’ll focus on a few beers that really caught my attention. But for now, here’s a sample of brews I elected to taste with my food.

White Frog, Glenn Ale, Captain Sigs Deadliest Ale, and Menage a frog.

The Food
Boy did I feast it up! Some how I managed to eat all my food and save room for a few tasty brews!

Feasting!

Let’s take a closer look at the food..

Blue Balls
Spiced Meat balls with a smooth blue cheese. The temperature of the meatballs was something to be desired. I ate two out of the 3 and will see if I have room for more at the end. (updated, I didn’t finish the 3rd) I wouldn’t not say it’s a must have – you may even want to skip it if you go with a blue cheese burger like I did.

Cheese Soup
I must say that I was a bit surprised that the cheese soup was so mild. It bit too mild for my pallete. I suppose that my marker for a superior cheese soup is Stone’s cheese soup. I was expecting a slap in the taste buds but it was not as punchy as I would expect.

Rogue’s House Salad
Rogue’s house salad is amazing – fresh spring greens, dried cranberries, toasted hazelnuts, crumbled bleu cheese, balsamic vinaigrette served with a piece of garlic bread. The vinaigrette dressing was quite pleasant and had just enough punch to bring out the flavors of the greens and blue cheese.

½ lb Kobe Cheese Burger
What a tasty burger! Sure it was $15 bucks or so but well worth it. Tender, juicy and exploding with flavors! A must have! You wont go home hungry after this. I couldnt finish my burger! As you can see, I really had a lot to eat and still needed room for more brews!!

Needless to say, after a meal like this I was just about ready to roll over and sleep but the smell of ales enticed me to stay awake! Coming soon – part 2 of this review with more on beer and final thoughts on the Issaquah Brew House.
