About: I remember my first beer...actually, I don't. It was probably something horrible like a Coors light and I'm glad I've forgotten. My experience with beer has come full circle. Originally I gave up on beer because I thought it was all crappy lagers. One day in 2002, I happened upon a little deli called Hollingshead in Anaheim, CA that just happened to have a vast array of "crazy" beers on tap I had never heard of. I dug the look of the STONE IPA handle and tried it. My life has never been the same since. I was in love with hops, grains, and the amazing beauty of what beer can really be.
I love bold flavors and extremes. Belgiums and homebrewing my own beer.See Authors Posts (76) | Filed under: Beer Reviews

Mad Brewer Black Storm
Name: Black Storm
Brewery: Mad Brewer
Overall Rating: B-
Style: Imperial Stout
Serving Style: 22oz Bomber
ABV: 11.5%
Price: $6.79
Aroma: Sharp bitter cocoa dominants the aromatics with a hint of anise and cinnamon.
Appearance: Nearly black with a hint of brown around the edges. Decent head formation while poured into my chalice. Almost no lacing.
Flavor: Starts like a good imperial stout; Full of warm espresso and bitter chocolate tastes. Ends with an odd, bitter almost vinegary after taste.
Mouthfeel: Large body with a mouth suckling dryness in the finish.
Enjoyability: I love seeing another great brewer just down the road from my house, but sadly this is not a great imperial stout. It’s almost there but the too bitter, almost vinegar finish ruins this one for me.
