Food and Beer Paring: Spicy Albacor Tartar Salad and Victory’s Hop Wallop!
Author: Sudz | Filed under: NewsMy plans to watch UFC all fell apart so I thought I’d would take the opportunity do a little grocery and stock up my frige with something other than beer and yogurt (my roommates). I wasnt too sure what I felt like eating tonight so I decided to put together a 2 course menu paired with a couple awesome brews.
-
First Course:
Salad
- Spicy Albacore Tartar Salad
Albacore, sesame oil, wasabi, olive oil, siracha, kirashi mixed laying on top of a bed of fresh organic baby lettuce with a miso-wasabi dressing sprinkled with black and white seasme seeds.
Ale pairing: Victory’s Hop Wallop Ale
ABV: 8.5% IBU: N/A OG: N/A
Beer Style: Imperial IPA
Oustanding smooth Imperial IPA. As its name boasts, this IPA packs a wallop of a hop blast right to your tongue. A clean finish, aggressive floral aromas and gorgeous golden hues. Paired with the spicy albacore tartar salad. The bitterness of the IPA really help mellow out the spiciness of the salad.
Taster’s Notes:
The classic pairing of spicy foods and IPA/Hoppy beers is no secret, it just happens to be one of my favorite pairings. The crisp salad was a nice contrast for the albacore tartar. A touch of spiciness kept my taste buds intrigued! The miso-wasabi dressing came out a lot better than I expected. It was rather simple but I cant give away my secrets (unless im bribed).
Next up: a fusion of flavors, east meets west.. pan seared pork chop spiced with an asian inspired dry rub..
