About: I remember my first beer...actually, I don't. It was probably something horrible like a Coors light and I'm glad I've forgotten. My experience with beer has come full circle. Originally I gave up on beer because I thought it was all crappy lagers. One day in 2002, I happened upon a little deli called Hollingshead in Anaheim, CA that just happened to have a vast array of "crazy" beers on tap I had never heard of. I dug the look of the STONE IPA handle and tried it. My life has never been the same since. I was in love with hops, grains, and the amazing beauty of what beer can really be.
I love bold flavors and extremes. Belgiums and homebrewing my own beer.See Authors Posts (76) | Filed under: Beer Reviews

Buckeye Brewing Mammoth Stout
Aroma: Roasted malts dominate. Slight fusel alcohol smell like paint thinner.
Appearance: Black with a nice tan head. Great lacing on the glass.
Flavor: Roasted malts with hints of dark fruit esters like plum and fig.
Mouthfeel: Good carbonation. Medium bodied with a dry finish.
Overall: A nice imperial stout that is a classic example of this style. The odd aroma and rather dry finish are the two negatives. Still, a fine brew worth sampling if you see it on the shelf.
Grade: B-
