Name: The Famous Taddy Porter

Brewery: Samuel Smith (Old Brewery Tadcaster)

Overall Rating: A+++++

Style: Porter

Serving Style: 12 oz Bottle

ABV: 5%

Price: $2.59

Aroma: Strong roasted aromas dominate. Extremely complex and lovely aromas; Burnt toffee, caramel, chocolate, espresso, and a sweetness.

Appearance: Dark brown in color with ruby highlights when held up to light.  Great clarity. Moderate off-white head with good retention

Flavor: Very complex and mirrors the aromas.  Strong toffee, caramel, slight espresso after taste.  No hops appear present, just wonderful roasted goodness.

Mouthfeel: Medium body.  Moderately high carbonation.

Enjoyability: Without a doubt, the best porter I’ve ever sampled.  This beer shows how wonderfully complex a 5% beer can truly be.  It’s warming and amazing deep.  It tells a 6 chapter story in a single sip and every sip reveals more to the story.   This is why I drink beer.  “We know of no brand produced by any other brewer which costs so much to brew and age!”

    Nice review. I ALMOST got this beer today, but picked up something else instead. I’ll grab it next time it sounds like something I’d really enjoy.
