Deschutes - The Abyss

Aroma: Strong malt and licorice aroma fill you up with curiosity “How is this going to taste?”  From the smell, you know something good is about to happen.

Appearance: Dark, very dark.  Just like a fine imerial stout is suppose to be.  It had a nice head when I first poured it, something like a coffee on color.

Flavor: There was a rich coffee tone.  Dark chocolate with some bitterness.  Followed by a molasses, vanilla and ending with a bourdon oak taste.

Mouthfeel: Syrupy with a full rich body fill your pallet.  With a silky smooth feel going down.

Enjoyability: Enjoyed better slow.  A definate sipper to enjoy during a chilly evening out or at home.
