We have much to celebrate around the CORE. We’re just days away from our one year anniversary. All CORE members have brewed and drank hundreds of gallons of great beers, and it’s even the wonderful holiday season. We thought we’d sum up the year by having each CORE author cover a few of their favorite beers of the year. Without further ado…
On the First Day of BeerMas, my brewmaster handed to me a Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron.

This was hands down one of my favorite beers this year. Pushing the legal limit in Ohio at 12% abv, it’s an obvious candidate for me. The the self professed lover of HUGE barleywines, imperial anythings, any liquid that can squeeze out more than 10%. Dogfish Head did something special to stand out from high-abv crowd. There is a level of rich, unfiltered complexity that has no equal in this brew. All that complexity is backed up with a wonderful nutty, brown, malty goodness foundation that gives the complex wave of vanilla and toffee something to ride down your throat. No doubt the unique “Holy Wood” Palo Santo from Paraguay lends some godly flavors to this libation.
If you were scared off by the price ($15 /4-pack of 12) or the fact that the label says “Malt Beverage” on it, put those fears behind and treat yourself this winter to this amazingly unique craft beer.

I truly enjoyed this on draft @Winkinglizard back in March I believe. Since then, it’s been only bottles for me. They don’t have bottles at BevMo?!

I don’t know. I don’t frequent the BevMo that often. Its mostly Holiday Wine Cellar [Escondido] for me!

Youre not the only one showing love for Dogfish this year, as I will confirm Bevmo has brought them back as well, PSM being one of the regulars I can now indugle in locally!!

My apologies, that photo was just awful. I really wonder if I was drunk or just plain silly when I took it. It’s all crocked and sloopy. Not to mention the glass I used was completely off for the style. Top that off with the fact that my counters are that goofy Corrian plastic and my interior walls look like exterior walls. I’m a mess!
