Glad you enjoyed the posting Stan! A fine question you have too.

It is actually more stable than it looks to my surprise also, the design of the flask keeps all the heavy liquid down on the bottom so it has a good low center of gravity and stays in place pretty well. There is also a slim piece of foam rubber under it to keep it from sliding around too much.
